I am blessed to be apart of a school where students are here because they want to learn. I have a very diverse group of students from, ESE inclusion students to alpha students. However, just because a student is ESE doesn't mean they can't read and understand text just like the alpha student. They just do it differently. My classroom has students from a wide variety of backgrounds from single parent families with a parent in prison, to a two parent home. Most students in my class had never heard of a Newberry Award Winner before I spoke about it and many struggle to find a book they will enjoy.
