We were assigned to the new early childhood blended program this year at our school (special and general education students together with a general education teacher and special education teacher) because the former teacher retired. While the retired teacher left us with some materials, those were broken and very worn out. Our students need to explore and learn from new materials that engage and excite our young learners. We are committed to find as many ways as we can to bring in new materials and supplies to create the exciting and engaging learning experiences our students need. Many of the items from our list will be used during block play and dramatic play. The materials and supplies we are requesting for our classroom will be implemented immediately in our lessons. All the cube chairs help give students a designated space to sit during large group activities, which will help eliminate behaviors and inattentiveness. Housecleaning supplies, community helper costumes, and pretend play themes, will all help to guide imagination and role play of future careers. As for the different block sets, these will all guide students to build and create buildings, roadways, and different structures. Each block set has different textures and shapes for our various learners.
Donations for this project will guide exploration and creativity during student directed learning experiences. Students will be able to explore careers through dressing up and role playing, and expand their knowledge and creativity by building and designing structures through block play. Students learn how to take turns, share items, and work together during block play and dramatic play. These skills are very important for socialization, growth and development for all children.
