Funded Feb 5, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation. We were utterly shocked by your generosity. The printer, paper and ink have allowed my students to engage in Future History Makers Learning about History.
The culturally relevant books and coloring books the students donated by you have inspired them. The students are able to create essays and print them to see their executed work. This may not seem like much to most people, but for my students it means everything. All of my students are unhoused, living in NYC housing, and/or spend their time split at two homes (mother, father, kingship). Having the ability to create something, print it, and carry it with them wherever they go is encouraging to them. I see them ask to print two copies of their executed work. One to hang up on the bulletin board (they smile with a sense of pride ). The other they fold and put in their pocket. Some have admitted when times get rough, they take out their printout and hold it. This didn't shock me because I loved their lives when I was younger.
I had a teacher who used to type up my work and print it at the library for me. I mention this because what she did for me helped to shape my future. A simple print out. Now your generous donation is doing the same for my students.
Thank you so much for investing in my students' futures. Learning about their past is having a positive impact on their present and their future. The impact is far greater than you could ever imagine.”
With gratitude,
Dr. Brown
