Close the Distance in Our Distance Learning!
Funded Jul 28, 2020Thank you so much for your donation to my students. All of the materials in the project were divided into go home kits for my students. They picked them up in the beginning of the school year and have been using them ever since. We are getting quite a bit of use out of these materials, especially the linking cubes, magnetic alphabet letters and the pattern blocks. We would be totally lost without the dry erase boards! My students are really enjoying their materials and it has totally helped them to remain involved in their learning while having to learn remotely!
The dry erase boards are making it possible for my students to participate more fully in their learning of letters and numbers and making it possible for me to see what they are writing easily on the computer. (Pencil is very hard to see on Zoom!) They have been drawing pictures, writing stories, counting, problem solving and learning how to write using this amazingly versatile tool!
The math manipulatives are helping to make math come to life. We use the linking cubes almost daily as we learn how to count to 10 and now we are beginning to use them to make patterns. Thank you so much for your help!”

Investigation Station - Creating a Kindergarten STEM Lab
Funded Sep 6, 2015Gina Harucki and I would like to thank all of you for your generous support of our STEM lab! Our Kindergarten students were so excited when all of the supplies arrived! They were thrilled to see all of the building supplies including the erector sets and the Lego Building Sets! They love to build things and you could just see their excitement to get started! They were also so excited to see the iPads! They knew just what to do with those to get themselves learning all kinds of new things!
In the beginning we did a lot of experimenting with building with all of the construction materials. This led to them being able to use the materials and their knowledge of building to design and build interesting and creative shapes and buildings.
Then we worked on a project to create a new bridge for the Three Billy Goats Gruff. The students worked in small groups and used their knowledge of construction to design and build strong bridges so the goats could get to the green grass! It was a very exciting project! We will continue to use the materials to work together to solve problems as the year progresses. Some of the projects we will be working on will be to build boats that will carry a certain weight and to build a strong house that the Big Bad Wolf can't blow down!
Thank you once again for contributing to our STEM lab and for helping to create an exciting and engaging learning environment for our students!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Oberthal
Creating Lifelong Readers
Funded Sep 1, 2014My students and I want to thank you so very much for your generous gift. The books that we purchased for the children have already begun to make a big difference for them. They have been taking a bag of books home for many weeks now and when they come back to school they are so excited about what they have read and what they are going to read the next night. They now are beginning to have favorite book titles in their heads and they are sharing the stories that have been read to them. I am so excited about how excited they are about the books! They are being so responsible because the books mean so much to them! Thank you again for making this all possible!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Oberthal
