Robot Building With The MakerBot Academy Bundle

Funded Dec 9, 2013

The Coronado Robotics FRC 3133 team thanks you for your generous contribution to our Robotics Team. We are part of First Robotics competitions and work to inspire students to get involved in engineering projects and competitions at the highest levels. We recently completed a very competitive Robot and competed against teams from all over Arizona in March. The goal of competing is to foster an interest in pursuing higher education in the STEM fields.

Our team upon receiving your generous gift of the MAKERBOT 3D printer immediately put it to good use and designed and built parts that are currently on our robot. One design was created from scratch by one of our students. The part was a CAM that activated a limit switch enabling precise control of a very powerful shooting mechanism that launched large inflated balls at targets around the competition field.

As a device this 3-D printer is and will be used with other departments at Coronado High School. I have helped our Health and Physiology and Anatomy Teacher print the Inner Ear bones which is the squiggly thing in one of the pictures. I have made the printer available to other departments including Art. We will prototype robotic parts and build parts year after year with this MAKERBOT 3-D printer. Thank you very much for your support.”

With gratitude,

Mr. Colling
