98% of the students in my school are on free lunch due to their low income socio-economic level. You would not be able to tell if you walked in the hallways. Our students are inspired on a daily basis with inspirational quotes like Read to Succeed, Dress for Success and May a Good Book Be Yours. Our students do not have the luxury of Internet at home but many of them come to school early to access reading programs that will help them on state exams. Our students take learning so seriously that our school was recently recognized at the national level (we were the only school in the state of Florida) for having extraordinary state exam scores although our school has a large number of students learning English as a second language. The students in our school go above and beyond what we as teachers ask of them. Emerson's quote says it best; Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.
