A bit about the students: Decatur Public Schools are located in rural Northwest Arkansas. Our entire student body consists of slightly over 500 students. Due to the high poverty level, we are 100% free and reduced lunches. Our population is primarily Hispanic and Caucasian. The greatest majority of our students struggle in impoverished circumstances. Many older siblings work in after school employment and/or assist with younger sibling care while parents are working second and third shifts in the local chicken processing plants. occasionally, the small community library will offer student/family programs, but most extra-curricular activities are found in the school and churches. As the primary art teacher for Kindergarten thru 12th grade, I'm offered the opportunity to travel and impact their path to adulthood.
