    The impact has been amazing! Students worked on their novels using the Alphasmarts, and they loved it! The Alphasmarts are so much more versatile and easier to focus. Many times they remarked how they felt they had written a little bit, only to find they had written several hundred words in one sitting without realizing it! Students also often opt to use the Alphasmarts for working on their essays or research papers because of how easy it is to use them.

My students are deaf, and I teach in a state school for the deaf. I teach 9th-12th grades. Because of their deafness, English is very much not their primary language, and thus for the most part, they hate reading and writing. Through this project, I hope to spark a love of reading and writing by unlocking their creative potential.
