  • Knowledge: It's in the Books!

    My students are so excited to get the opportunity to have books that sparks their interest in the classroom. They just light up!

    It's interesting to see how much more they get from the non-fiction books you provided than from the textbook. Because the books vary in topics, everyone can find something which is of interest. They are just so happy when they each have their own book to read.

    It gives a different feel to the learning experience. The student engagement is great. They are so eager to share what they read from the books you provided. They talk to me and to each other, and other friends about the books. It's awesome!”

  • My Students Need "Le Petit Prince"

    Your donation has had such a great impact in reviving my students interest in reading. It one thing to read to learn but when you can do for mere enjoyment, it makes a world of difference

    Learning to read and understand a foreign language can lead to a lack of enthousiam and interest when all you have is the textbook and the accompanying practice.

    My students were accustomed to read small pieces of text from textbook to relay certain pieces information in order to develop their skills.

    Thanks to you, I see excitement in their eyes. All they want to do is read more novels in French. They themselves are amazed by the story and by their ability to comprehend. It is truly a joy to see these young students immersed in the literature. They practically refuse to the novel down.

    My students now have a thirst for more. They have also mentioned how nice it is not to have to share the one copy that was previously available at the school library. They enjoy having the opportunity to hold their own copy.”

I teach in an inner-city Elementary School. My students are eager to learn. All they need is an opportunity to be presented for them to grab it and reach for the stars. A good 97% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. That does not stop them from coming to school every day.
