  • Cadets Need Sabers

    Funded Nov 15, 2013

We sincerely appreciate your generous donation to the Nanakuli High School JROTC program. Our cadets were pleasantly surprised when the sabers arrived, and they couldn't wait to start practicing. Several cadets commented on how beautiful the sabers are, and how generous Chevron is to donate them to our organization. All of the cadets were excited and anxious to begin performing Honor Guard duties.

The cadets have thoroughly enjoy using the sabers to practice for Honor Guard events. While they have not yet had the opportunity to use them in an actual event, they are gaining pride and confidence every day. They are working hard to ensure that they perform honorably when the occasion arises. The next opportunity will be at graduation, and the cadets are confident that they will honor the graduating class of 2014 in a memorable way.

The purpose of JROTC is to motivate young people to be better citizens. One way they can become better citizens is by recognizing and honoring others. Our cadets are learning the value of honor, as well as the ongoing values of teamwork, dedication, and hard work.

Again, we humbly thank you for your donation, and will do our best to ensure your contributions to our organization lead to a substantial return on your investment.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Robertson

The Army JROTC Cadets of Nanakuli High School are loyal, patriotic students who desire to become better citizens. They understand that citizenship is more than just excelling in the classroom. They understand that community service and pride in their school and organization prepare them for lives after high school in whatever career field they choose to pursue. While using ceremonial sabers is not a prerequisite for most jobs, cadets can be more prepared than their peers by understanding the importance of tradition and by implementing the leadership skills they learn in the classroom during special events.
