  • Tech Equity: Computer Access For ALL

    Funded Oct 16, 2017

Access to computers is so important for my students. Having the five chromebooks has helped over 120 kids gain access to technology for their school work.

One way that the chromebooks have helped is by making it possible for me to use a computer cart for projects. We have a cart at school that we can check out, but it only has 30 computers on it, and many of the classes at my school are 32-35 students. Having the five extra computers enables me to plan lessons that use the computer cart and not worry about being short 2-5 computers.

The chromebooks have helped not just in my subject area, but they help student get work done in ALL their classes. Just today a student came in at lunch to work on his Spanish homework, because he needed a computer and did not have access to one at home.

The chromebooks are a great help to me in my classroom and also benefit the entire school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kupilik

    Funded Oct 5, 2016

Thank you so much for your generous support of my students. Having the five chromebooks available at lunch and during class has been such a huge help. Students who do not have access to computers and the Internet at home have found them to be super efficient and easy to use. Normally little to no essay work could get done in a lunch period, but now students have time to eat and finish up their schoolwork.

When I told my students that regular people came together to buy the chromebooks for them, they were blown away and extremely grateful. When we have to use computers and the majority of the class is using the OLD ones that take forever to log in, student beg to use the chromebooks. I often hear them mentioning how "simple" "fast" and "easy to use" the technology is.

It has allowed me to use Google Classroom and other interactive teaching tools to a greater degree. The technology is being used well by the students and is much appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kupilik

My students OFTEN come work on school work during their lunch hour or before/after school. Especially students who do not have access to the internet and computers at home. Having fast computers that they can easily use to submit their essays on google classroom or complete an article for journalism will help assure greater equity for my students. The technology my students have access to right now dates back to before I started teaching, and it take most of their lunch hour just to log in. Technology isn't going away and I want to use it in my classroom in a fair and equitable way.
