Funded Dec 10, 2013Your generous gift is giving our little explorers much-needed engaging sensory experiences to help them learn to process and tolerate different kinds of sensory inputs.
As you know, our classroom serves preschoolers with special needs from two different school zones. Many of our students have families with lower incomes and receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. All of our students have disabilities or developmental delays including intellectual disabilities, autism-spectrum disorders, physical disabilities, or emotional or behavioral disorders. All of our students are growing and exploring as they learn about their world and themselves.
The Pea Pod we received is a special inflatable calming station which applies deep, even pressure for a cocooning calm. It is being used every single day and especially helps two of our students who have classical autism. It has helped each of them regulate their emotions so that they can learn! The Balance Board allows children to easily spin, twist, rock, turn, and dip. we use it with our students every day to help them manage their vestibular input. The Carpet Touch-Me Butterflies Set lets our children to explore textures with their feet while stepping, jumping, and balancing, and they love it! The teachable touchable texture squares lets the students to use their fingers, hands, and even faces to feel different textures.
Your gift is allowing our whole class achieve more! Our busy special-needs preschool classroom has students with varying special needs ages three to six. Young children learn in a hands-on way, using all of their senses to explore. You have helped us to meet our students' sensory needs and help them to reach their greatest potential! Thank you SO MUCH for helping our littlest learners meet their full potential! Thanks to you, they are growing and thriving!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ditchen
