Our school is 3rd through 5th grade and is located in Louisiana. About a third of our students do not have Internet at home and therefore never get a chance to use a computer or iPad, except at school. Technology time is a huge motivator to get students to put forth their best effort. My classroom has two student computers and I bring my personal iPad to school each day. I am happy to share it with my students, however, due to its age and lack of memory, we are limited on the apps that we can use. Even a few minutes of iPad time will encourage my weaker students to come in at recess to practice math facts or a reading comprehension activity. My other students are also willing to give up their free time to use this technology. I wish we could put an iPad in the hands of each of my students. It is amazing to see their faces light up when they get to use it. They will work hard to get a reward of a few minutes of an educational activity. I know that they love it.
