Our students attend a Title 1 school in a low income community in South Florida. We are consistently underperforming when it comes to distrcit and state assessments, largely impart to the lack of resources. We have a large immigrant population (mostly from islands in the Carribean) and a large population of students in foster care. Students come to school with a winning attitude and often stay after for hours after school in the many programs we offer. The school is often a safe haven for many of our students who have unstable homes or live in violent neighborhoods. Our students face many problems inside and outside of the classroom; a lack of resources should not be one of them.
