  • Music to Our Ears

    Funded Feb 3, 2022

Thank you so much for making this project a reality for my students. These high quality headphones have brought so much joy to my students. With our dated technology in-school, we needed headphones that were not bluetooth, and these are the coolest option! When students are doing independent math work during class, they're begging to use headphones, playfully arguing over which color they want, and taking such great care of them when done. One student even mandated the headphones get wiped-down after each use because she wants them to last for such a long time. What a gift these headphones are. Thank you so very much.”

  • Promoting Communication During Daily Advisory Through Games

    Funded Jan 13, 2022

Thank you so much for giving my students the opportunity to spend one hour each day playing games with one another in our visually random groups.

Because of the simplicity of the rules of all these games in this project, students can easily follow conversation protocols while playing with one another, and the games are SUCH a hit!

My students and I continue to be surprised every time a donor chooses to give to our classroom via DonorsChoose. And in this case, you completely funded our entire project.

Your generosity is so very much appreciated by me, my students, and our school community.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Hamilton

  • Teaching & Showcasing for All to See with Apple TV!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Thank you so very much for giving members of multiple classrooms in my school community the opportunity to project wirelessly. If you've been a teacher, you might know the frustration of having to "hook up" your computer across various classrooms throughout the day. Do you have your dongle? Where's the VAG cable? But now, with Apple TV, I never have to worry again. I can project wirelessly in every classroom in which I teach. And other teachers can benefit from this gift as well. The best part? Students can wirelessly project their work. Again, thank you so much for this awesome and time-saving gift.”

  • Building a Thinking Classroom with Wipebook Flipcharts

    Funded Jul 12, 2021

Every day, my students walk into room 838 at the Marble Hill School for International Studies and draw a random card of a certain color. We use these cards' color to put our students in random groups (of 3) every single day

And around the room, students find the WipeBook that corresponds to their card's color. And here, at these WipeBooks every day, students work on geometry or calculus tasks.

The students are out of their seats, moving around room 838 daily. Knowledge flows freely from one group to the next as the class moves along, and students are engaged. And they're not engaged because I make the most creative problems. They're engaged because they have vertical, non-permanent surfaces on which to write and solve tasks.

This is because of you. Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. My classroom is a better place because of these WipeBook Flipcharts.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Hamilton

  • Building a Thinking Classroom, Part 2!

    Funded Jul 29, 2021

Thank you so very much for your generous donations to my "Building a Thinking Classroom, Part 2!" project.

In my vision of a thinking classroom, students are working on vertical, non-permanents surfaces daily in random groups, working their way through engaging scripted, curricular tasks.

But in order for students to get into, and maintain, this "flow" of energy, they need the supplies that you so generously made possible for them.

Students LOVE the "fine tip" sharpie markers. They say it makes them feel like a teacher on a board. Having access to their own bottle of cleaner also gives them a sense of responsibility for the space they are working on.

We are all so grateful for you making this possible. Thank you again.”

  • Tired of Too Many Tabs: In Need a Second Monitor!

    Funded Dec 10, 2020

This second monitor has changed the way I am able to plan my lessons, update grades, and track student work.

In my classroom, students are often working on different activities (whether Desmos, DeltaMathPlus, IXL, etc.) With such a large monitor, I am able to have multiple tabs open, with my screen split into 3 to 5 different sections, and track what all my students are doing, regardless of the task they are completing.

Truly, this monitor is beyond helpful for so many little things, and all of these little things add up each day to make a BIG difference in the efficiency of my lessons.

Beyond grateful for those of you who helped fund this project.”

    With gratitude,

  • Teachers Need Space to Collaborate & Co-Plan for Student Success

    Funded Oct 17, 2019

Thank you so much for helping my fellow teachers feel more professional in our daily routine. Previously, our teachers' lounge was dated with chairs from the late 80s. They were grimy, broken, and rather uncomfortable.

Now, we have beautiful, sleek black chairs to sit in every day with actual back support. Simply having new chairs has updated the look of our teachers' lounge as well as boosted morale for all involved.

Again, it cannot be said enough how grateful we are for your donation. Your gesture has made us feel more like professionals in the 21st century.

    Thank you so very much-

    Mr. Hamilton”
