I have resources for my students that are on grade level for math. Unfortunately, every year I have a handful of students that are missing big skills in their math understanding from previous years. My school district doesn't provide any resources for below grade level students, which means they often get boring worksheets out of necessity that don't really meet their needs. Math Talks are a meaningful way to meet with small groups of students to develop number sense. I have attended several workshops around math talks and understand how they can be used as a powerful tool to empower students as mathematicians. With the 3rd grade Math Talk Kit, I will have the resources I need to help students get caught up in an engaging way that reflects best practice in math education.
