  • Show Me What You Know!

    Funded Feb 29, 2020

I played a game call grudgeball with students. I would post questions on the smart board, give students a few minutes to answer it and they would have to write their answer on the white board. The team that answered the question correctly earned points and were allowed to shoot a giant paper ball in the trash can. If groups got the question wrong, I would reteach the topic immediately. This saved time because I was able to see where the deficiencies were.

The white boards gave me a quick snap shot of students understanding. I was able to re-direct my lessons on the drop of a dime depending on what students responses were. Thank you for your generosity, it is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dudley

  • A Laptop Can Change My Life!

    Funded Mar 4, 2021

I greatly appreciate your donation of the chrome book. Your generosity has allowed me to devote 100% of class time engaging with my students. In the past, I would jump between working with students, grading a few papers and searching for the next class material (which was very stressful). Often times, I would stay late afterschool preparing for class and my own children would complain about me coming home late. Now, I can leave school on time, and work at home when my kids go to sleep.

The chrome book allows me to not only keep up with grading papers and lesson plans, but I can find interactive online activities for students to work with. I am able to complete these activities myself and anticipate challenges students may have, come up with solutions, all because I can work from home.

So again, thank you for your generosity. It has alleviated my stress level, allows me to make more of an impact with my students in class and prepare awesome lessons.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dudley

Many of our students are behind academically by two or three years, which means some of my eight graders are reading on a 5 or 6th grade level. In my content area of Science, reading is essential. Our school along with community partners try to close the gap and provide our students with essential needs (school supplies, clean uniforms, food during the holidays etc.). However, there are still unmet needs. With many challenges stacked against them, my students come to school everyday with a desire to learn. They actively participate in class, they ask a lot of questions and some even send me messages as late as 9 PM through remind.com asking about class. I would like to increase the use of technology in my classroom. I use websites or apps such as: remind.com, kahoots, edgenuity, khan academy and explore learning. Having computers or netbooks in my classroom would allow more students to utilize these web/computer programs. This would increase student engagement, allow for remediation if students don’t understand the content, and allow absent students to catch up with classwork. Having laptops in class would make a world of a difference in closing the achievement gap of my students.
