Students in my classroom have an opportunity to learn in a flexible manner. The room is designed in 4 groups. One area of the room feels like an inviting living room. It has a futon, ottoman, butterfly chair, rocker, and easy chair. Other areas include: bean bags, exercise balls, and table and chairs. I feel the room environment is on the right track for students who learn by having a choice in seating. We, however, lack the ability to stand comfortably while learning. We also do not have enough earbuds to utilize the talk to text features of our technology. Struggling students appreciate the calm that their new setting has to offer. The flexible chairs and exercise balls helps those with excess energy in ways to gives them the ability to work, move, and think. I understand the need to move and be active as a lifelong learner. Now my students, too, have the freedom to be comfortable.
