Lets Talk!
Funded Mar 7, 2022I know that the Items I purchased with your donations were simply chairs--- but, you wouldn't believe the impact it has made. Those chairs, along with some little creativity and elbow grease has transformed this office from a cinderblock wall prison to an inviting space for students to come and share their hearts.
Everyone, from students, administrators, teachers, and parents have commented how inviting this space is. The students walk in and sit down and you can see instantly their face relax. It's a good place for them to feel accepted, talk about their problems, and feel safe. And, believe it or not, they even comment how nice the chairs are: comfortable, sturdy...
I am super appreciative of this donation. Even though it seems insignificant, the look and feel of a space really makes a big difference in how students feel and which results in how they will share. This is a great addition to my space.
As we work to overcome the emotional toll that the pandemic has had on our students, having a place to make that happen makes all the difference.”

Funded Dec 4, 2013Aloha! I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how wonderful it is to have the chrome books in my classroom. Students are able to use the many valuable resources that the internet has to offer. We are a google school, so the chrome books give them access to a gmail address and online storage. This has STREAMLINED their projects and papers for them as they can access it from anywhere. And, no longer is 'incompatible computer formats' an issue, or forgetting jump drives. And, all of this makes getting to and from school easier as they do have children that they must get ready as well.
The students are VERY happy to have the chrome books. Our class only has 2 computers for student use and they are in a tight corner of the room. The chrome books allow the students to spread out their materials and work on the computer as well. It also is giving them a leg up on the technology front and will help make them more marketable in the future. It is a good thing for the environment as well as our class has started the switch from submitting assignments and papers in hard copy format to submitting them electronically. This is also great for me cause it cuts down on the papers on my desk, what I have to take home every night, and just all around simplifies everything.
It's helped boost my teaching and the student's learning because it has put a wealth of information at our fingertips. There are MANY online resources that are so wonderful to use in the classroom and having them available makes them accessible to our students. For students who must juggle their high school career with their children, having easy access to resources helps them to become independent and self-sufficient. Both of these qualities are goals of our programs. The online access has also helped streamline the transition we try to help make with the students between high school and the local community college. It makes college seem less daunting and as a result, more and more of the students from our program are applying to go. Everyone wins in this situation.
I am extremely grateful for this wonderful opportunity and generous donation. Thank you so much for taking the time to think of our students.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Kondo
