  • Superior Storytelling in Third Grade

    Funded Oct 9, 2019

As you know, 2020 has been quite the whirlwind. To say we never expected what happened to happen to us, is an understatement. Despite that, I am happy to report that due to your generosity, my students were able to participate in colorful and interactive learning. Our time together was cut short, but we were still able to utilize the resources you provided us daily and in many different ways. You helped my students access technology, which would soon become the norm for a classroom setting. My students had the chance to utilize my project resources and become comfortable using them. This helped them transition to a fully online school model with ease. As we prepare to return to the classroom in person, your donated items will be put to good use with a whole new group of students who have not attended school since March of 2020. We are ready to dive right in to learning, and thanks to you, we have just what we need to stay afloat!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Amador

  • Shining Bright in Third-Grade!

    Funded Oct 3, 2018

I would like to begin by saying how THANKFUL I am to you for helping my students. We have put our wonderful resources to such good use, and because of you, our year was that much brighter!

While many of my students know how to use technology, they did not have access to it at home. Our class project allowed my students to use the new laptop for research throughout the school year. They also used it to create newsletters for their parents describing all the fun and interesting things we did in our classroom each month. This project was 100% percent student led and gave my students an enormous amount of confidence in their communication and writing skills.

In addition to the amazing laptop, the color ink we received was amazing in helping bring life and color to our classroom. We were able to create a multitude of things such as posters, flash cards, picture cards, games, centers, and of course, our class newsletter with the help of our new ink! We also received a top of the line pencil sharpener, card stock, picture paper and white-out which helped make our year run smoothly and kept all the kids "sharp" and ready to work! Thank you again for being a corporation with a heart of gold.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Amador

  • Breaking Language Barriers with Technology

    Funded Oct 9, 2015

    Dearest Donors,

What seems like many months ago, I had an idea for a project which I felt would change the lives of my English language learners for the better. Back then, it was only an idea in my head. Thanks to you, this idea has been brought to life! The positive impact it has made in all of our lives has exceeded my expectations. At the start of this school year, many of my students were newly arrived to the United States. Throughout the school year, I have had many more students join our class. Thanks to your generous donation, I was able to make their transition into our country less scary by having them utilize the newly donated technology.

As mentioned in my project proposal, I wanted my students to use a specialized program that taught them the English language in addition to the school-mandated reading series. I wanted them to use a program where they could learn, listen, and practice English on a daily basis. My students used the donated Apple I-Pads everyday and did just that. They were exposed to hundreds of visuals that helped them acquire new vocabulary in an effective and engaging manner. As I hoped for, the Apple I-Pads that were donated provided my students an infinite amount of visual and auditory experiences that would not have occurred through the solitary use of traditional text materials.

My students looked forward to using the I-Pads everyday. Using them was exciting because many of them do not have tablets or computers at home, and the only chance they have to utilize this new technology is in the classroom! Again, thank you so much for bringing my project to life, and helping me achieve the goals I set for my wonderful students. It has been a beautiful thing to watch their confidence and independence grow throughout the school year. They are ready to take on any challenges that come their way, and you had an enormous part in making that happen!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Amador

  • It's a Wonderful World of Writing in 4th Grade!

    Funded Oct 7, 2014

This has been a very interesting school year, to say the least. It is the first year the highly controversial FSA state exam was administered. In addition, both students and teachers have had to adjust to drastic changes to our regular curriculum. I always knew this school year would be challenging to my students, and I am so grateful to you for helping me tackle this challenge. Your generosity has made it possible for my students to learn in ways that have been both valuable and unforgettable. When we first received our resources, my students couldn't believe their luck. We had just read an article about several businesses that give back to their community, and your generous donations really helped them apply the message of the article in a real-world setting! The students were excited to use the materials. Naturally, they wanted to start using them immediately. I explained my plans for the resources, and it was all they could talk about for days.

We have a very strict curriculum to follow, but I managed to squeeze in creative ways to utilize our project resources. Students used the Microsoft Surface Pro to create PowerPoint presentations to present information from lessons. Students have used our new amazing printer to print the slides of their presentations to distribute to classmates to enhance their presentations. After modeling and guiding them, my students created a student newsletter for their parents. They wrote, edited, and printed the newsletter themselves! All this was solely made possible because of your donations. We also had a lot of fun writing, directing, and filming student plays during a Drama unit we did a few months ago. Recently, we have started reading a book (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief). We are using our Microsoft Pro to record the students reading the book orally. We are making our very own audiobook of the story for our school library.

This project has helped boost my teaching in many ways. It has helped me present information in a different, entertaining manner. Students have been trained and have been allowed to have full use of all the materials. They have taken responsibility and have been active participants in their own learning. Once again, I thank you for making all this possible for us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Amador
