Art class is taught in regular education classroom. I teach at an elementary school, old but renovated and modified in the eighties, surrounded by middle class residential neighborhoods. This school is comprised of a racially diverse student body totaling 960: 26 Asian students, 233 African American, 3 African American/Indian, 61 Hispanic, 20 American Indians, one from the Pacific, 567 Caucasian, 11 students that are white/Asian, 19 African American/white students, one white/Indian student and 20 that fit into the category of "other". Our elementary school is also economically diverse. Children from two lower income housing projects bused to our school. Four hundred and thirty five students qualify for free lunches, and 73 students qualify for a reduced lunch price.
