  • Austin Bound for Success

    Funded Dec 26, 2016

Thank you so much for your generous donations. The students loved learning about the state capital, Texas history, the six flags over Texas and the Bob Bullock Museum. This experience was amazing! The students were so excited. This opportunity would not be possible without the financial support you provided. MST is 70% economically disadvantaged. The funding this project received was a crucial part of the foundation for this field trip. The students worked to earn portions of the trip and genuinely loved the experience!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mays

  • Financial Literacy, Fun, Food, & Field Trips (ATPE Member)

    Funded Apr 5, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donations. This allowed the students in fourth grade to work to earn money for their Austin field trip. The students loved earning money and were excited to earn their way to the capitol. This field trip covered Texas history, economics, financial literacy, and agriculture. Without your amazing donations and gifts these students would not have been able to attend such an amazing trip. The students at MST are 70% economically disadvantaged and fund a trip such as this would not be possible without your support. We appreciate each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mays

This classroom project was brought to life by The Association of Texas Professional Educators and 4 other donors.
  • Austin Bound! 4th Graders Traveling to the State Capitol!

    Funded Dec 16, 2014

During the trip to Austin, Texas, the 4th grade students at MST were able to experience Texas History firsthand. As we arrived in Austin, the students noticed the six flags flying in front of the Bullock Museum. They know these flags and the meaning of their colors and symbols by heart. When they saw them flying, they called out, "Look, the flags!" This marked the beginning of them putting their classroom experiences into context during this trip.

Prior to the trip, the students also studied about LaSalle's shipwrecked La Belle. They learned a great deal about the painstaking excavation and preservation that has been taking place in recent years. Imagine their excitement when they were able to view the ship being reconstructed right before their eyes at Bob Bullock Museum. In addition to observing the reconstruction of the La Belle, students were able to locate their favorite artifacts from the ship's remains. Prior to the trip, students learned about life on the ship, what cargo was taken and why. I believe they would have stayed all day in the La Belle Exhibit, if time allowed!

During the tour of the Texas State Capitol, students gained firsthand knowledge about how laws are made. Since the legislative session is currently taking place, students were able to view and hear laws being made while passing through the gallery of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

These once-in-a-lifetime experiences would not have been possible without your generous donations. We sincerely thank you for supporting students' learning and will be forever grateful for the part you played in educating our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mays

  • Popcorn, Pickles, Chips And Treats! Fundraiser Cart Needed!

    Funded Apr 24, 2014

Thanks to your generosity, my 4th grade students are now able to more effectively raise money for their annual trip to visit the Texas State Capital in Austin, Texas. The utility cart is the gift that will keep on giving, because it will allow the students to raise their own funds for years to come.

Before we received our own sales cart, we borrowed from other departments in our school. This meant that we were not able to store our items on the cart and weren't assured of the cart's availability each Friday. It also meant that students had to load and unload snack sales items on and off the cart before and after sales. With our own cart, the snack items can also be stored on the cart between sales. This allows more time on Friday afternoons where students can engage in learning and quickly wheel the already prepared cart out for sales as soon as the school day ends.

We are so appreciative of your generosity. My students are eager workers and your "hand up" will help them achieve their fundraising goals to attend the field trip of a lifetime.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mays

Our 4th grade students are curious, dedicated learners. This year they will learn as much as possible about the great state of Texas. In order to take that learning a step further, we are taking them to Austin, Texas to tour the Texas State Capitol and the Bob Bullock Museum. This opportunity will allow students to step out of the classroom and away from texts and projects to experience history firsthand.
