Student Publishing Center
Funded Nov 25, 2009Thank you so much for your donation to our Classroom Publishing Center. You have facilitated so many projects this year.
A small committee of students have become expert bookbinders and have bound over 270 books. We have made poetry books for two different reading classes where students now have published and can keep their own poetry and artwork, and that of their classmates. They were able to go through all the stages of the writing process, ending with publication. Additionally, we are in the process of creating poetry-in-translation books. After a yearlong study of poetry from around the world and an inquiry into the process of translation, students have written, translated, and published their own poetry. These books are being looked at by educators at Stanford University who focus on language and education. They are extremely impressed with our young stars!
The facility with which we can create finished products has greatly increased the level of pride students take in their work. Additionally, they can be part of every step in the process, as opposed to sending off their work to some printer, hoping the school with pay for the copies, and receiving books someone else made.
Thank you so much for your generosity. You have made a great difference for a group of very amazing youth, and your gift will keep on giving as those books are shared with our community... and many more books are published in our classroom as time passes.”

Community Video Documentary
Funded Aug 28, 2007Thank you so much for your generosity. Our students experience little of it in their lives and it means the world to us to be able to provide them access to technology which allows them to tell their stories and express themselves creatively and intellectually”
