Investigating Environmental issues and Finding Solutions
Funded Mar 14, 2016I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful contribution to to our classroom. My students are always eager to learn through hands on activities. They loved the opportunity to test various soil, water, and air conditions. Many of them extended their projects and turned them into their own science fair projects. They took what they learned and created testable questions they answered through their own science experiment. I am so proud of them and what they've accomplished and look forward to what they create beyond my classroom.”

This classroom project was brought to life by #BestSchoolDay and 4 other donors. The Wonderful World of Microscopes
Funded Nov 1, 2013Thank you so much for your generous donation. The first day my students walked in and saw the microscopes was simply amazing. They were so excited to use them and to learn about plant and animal cells. The greatest thing is that thanks to these microscopes my students continued to express their excitement and enthusiasm with every lab throughout the trimester. It was wonderful to see my students showing up during lunch or before school to complete or extend the labs seen in class. It is simply amazing that my students are not only completely engaged and learning during class, but that they are sharing their knowledge and experience with their parents. Several parents have shared with me that their children absolutely love science and could not stop talking about the paramecium, elodea plant and other labs they had completed during class. Some of my 8th grade students mentioned that they are really looking forward to science in high school and perhaps pursuing a career in science in the future.
My students currently use the microscopes for labs 2-3 times a week. They have been used to allow students to observe and explore the basic blocks of life prior to taking notes. All students were able to observe cells (without actually knowing what they were), accurately describe them, and later take notes and label the parts of the cell. For their final project students created an edible plant model. I had a 100% completion rate of this assignment. That is the firs time in the history of this class and my teaching career that have had every single student complete the assignment. My students have gained so many wonderful experiences and knowledge with the use of those microscopes. These microscopes have boost student engagement, learning, participation and autonomy.”
