  • Autistic Student Classroom Supplies

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donations, which have provided my autistic classroom with iPads and supplies. Your support has made a profound impact on our students and their learning experiences.

When the iPads first arrived, the excitement in the classroom was palpable. The students' faces lit up with joy and curiosity as they eagerly explored these new tools. For many, it was their first time using such technology, and their enthusiasm was infectious.

We have integrated the iPads into various aspects of our daily routines and lessons. One particularly memorable project was our interactive storytelling activity. Using a storytelling app, students were able to create their own stories by choosing characters, settings, and plot elements. This project not only enhanced their creativity but also improved their communication skills. For example, one student who typically struggles with verbal expression was able to convey his thoughts and ideas through the app, creating a beautiful story that he proudly shared with the class.

In addition to storytelling, the iPads have been invaluable for personalized learning. Each student has unique needs and learning styles, and the iPads allow us to tailor educational apps and activities to fit each child. For instance, students working on math skills can use interactive math games that adapt to their level, providing just the right amount of challenge and support.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue building on the progress we've made. Our next project involves using the iPads to explore science concepts through augmented reality (AR). Students will be able to see 3D models of planets, animals, and more, bringing abstract concepts to life in a way that is both engaging and comprehensible. This will not only enhance their understanding of the material but also spark their curiosity and love for learning.

Your contribution has not only provided us with valuable resources but also given our students a sense of being cared for and supported by the broader community. For that, we are deeply grateful. We look forward to sharing more updates with you as we continue to grow and learn together.

Thank you once again for your generosity and support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Joanne Saglimbeni

  • My Autistic Students' Talents, Skills and Voices Yearning to Be Heard!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation of iPads for my classroom! My students have been so excited to use them in our classroom. We have a variety of apps that we use to reinforce skills in all subject areas - literacy, math, science, and social studies. Most importantly we have apps that are used to help them communicate their wants and needs and assist in regulating their emotions. The impact of these iPads in our classroom has been tremendous. I've observed a huge decrease in maladaptive behaviors and progress in all academic areas.

The students and I really like that they can work independently on the skills they need to focus on using the iPad. They can work at their own pace and level. They are able to communicate in new ways. You have made a huge difference in the lives of my students and have transformed my classroom into a more cultivating environment. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Joanne Saglimbeni
