Fourth Grade Readers Need News Magazines
Funded Oct 14, 2016Your generous donations have helped my scholars obtain information on various topics. The articles in the magazines are interesting as well as help expand my scholars' vocabulary. The nonfiction topics are always current events which keeps my readers up to date as well as informed about what is occurring in other places. They can't wait to get their hands on the latest magazines because they always learn something new and interesting. You have helped increase my scholars love of reading and made them enthusiastic conversationalists. They like to share the information that they have acquired from the magazines with each other and with me. Community 404 appreciates your donations.”

Art Materials for Exceptional Artists
Funded Dec 17, 2015These materials were very instrumental in helping my scholars become artists. They were able to create pieces that were an expression of who they are. There were activities where everyone could be successful because as you know art can be interpreted in any manner. The first activity we did was for them to create self portraits, they enjoyed themselves immensely!!! The next activity we did was a free draw, they were allowed to create pieces that they wanted to. That one was quite interesting; however, those activities wouldn't have been possible without your generous donations!!!”

Funded Oct 22, 2015Because of your generosity, my scholars are now able to grow their reading muscles. They were so excited to receive those wonderful books; especially my boys. My boys love the genre of Science Fiction and Fantasy and there were enough books to satisfy their interests. My girls were also happy that there were new books in the library that they could choose from. My class has special needs students and it is hard getting them to read but once I let them open up the box and told them they could have first pick , they were so excited and started reading right there on the rug. I am very grateful to all of you for putting smiles on my scholars faces and books in their hands!!”

Fourth-Grade Mathematicians Need Materials
Funded Dec 3, 2014The dry erase boards made learning more fun and it definitely engaged my students more. They were able to do their work without worrying about erasing. I saw the excitement in their faces as they were working with their boards . These boards make math lessons more interactive and easier to see if my scholars are making mistakes or if they have the concepts down pact. When they are having trouble, they can hold up their boards and I can go over and help them. The boards also make group work easier because students can exchange their boards and correct them or show each other where they made a mistake. We really love our new boards!!!”

Fourth Grade Readers Need News Magazines
Funded Aug 24, 2014My students were very excited once they received their Scholastic News magazines. They love reading the articles and discussing them with their reading buddies. The articles varies so there is usually something of interest for every member of the class. In addition the Scholastic News magazines are informational text, which makes learning how to discern main ideas and their details easier than working with textbooks. The magazines also covers information from all of the content areas; such as, science and social studies. Thus by reading these magazines my students are increasing their knowledge and becoming better at having rich conversations about the articles they've read. For example one of the articles dealt with children exercising their rights, which lead to a discussion about government and how they could become better citizens. Now my students minds are on fire with ideas about helping society, this was possible because of the Scholastic News magazines. I am so thankful for all of you funding Community 403's project and enriching my students' lives with the Scholastic News magazines.”
