Shout It Out!
Funded Sep 20, 2023I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the support you have provided to our classroom. Thanks to your generosity, we now have essential tools that are helping us maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for our students.
The classroom disinfectant and vacuum that you have so kindly funded will make a significant difference in our daily routines. With the ongoing concerns about health and cleanliness, these supplies have become indispensable in keeping our classroom not only organized but also germ-free. Our students' well-being is our top priority, and your thoughtful donation has enabled us to take a proactive approach to their safety.”

Funded Feb 1, 2023PBIS has been a transformative program for our school community, and I am incredibly proud of the progress we have made together. Through this proactive approach, we have fostered a school environment that promotes positive behavior, academic growth, and emotional well-being. The implementation of PBIS has had a remarkable impact on my students, and I would like to share some of the key outcomes we have observed. Thank you so much for being an integral part of that.
PBIS has helped to create a safe and inclusive learning space for our students. By explicitly teaching expected behaviors and reinforcing them with positive rewards, we have seen a significant reduction in disciplinary incidents and an increase in constructive interactions among peers. The students have developed a deeper sense of empathy, respect, and responsibility towards one another.
The PBIS prizes, such as stickers, eraser desk pets, and play doh, has played a crucial role in motivating the students to embrace the program fully. These simple yet effective rewards have become powerful symbols of their achievements and positive actions.”

Can You Hear Me Now?
Funded Dec 8, 2022I am writing to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you who made it possible for my students to receive the noise-reducing headphones through the Donors Choose. Your kindness and support have had an incredible impact on the learning experiences of my students at Killybrooke Elementary.
Since the arrival of these noise-reducing headphones, I have witnessed a remarkable transformation in my classroom. Our learning environment has become significantly more conducive to focus and concentration. Before, the constant ambient noise, interruptions, and distractions made it challenging for my students to stay engaged in their studies, especially those who require a quieter and more serene space to learn effectively
Furthermore, the headphones have been instrumental in promoting collaboration and group work. Students can put on the headphones when they need to work together on a project or participate in small group discussions. It allows them to communicate more effectively without disturbing their peers, fostering a cooperative and harmonious learning environment..”

Supply and Demand
Funded Nov 12, 2022My students and I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the generous support you provided for the much needed school supplies as well as STEM supplies. Your selfless contribution has made a remarkable impact on our learning environment, and we cannot express how thankful we are for your assistance.
Thanks to your kindness, my students have the access to a plethora of educational resources that were once beyond our reach. The new school supplies, from notebooks and pencils to art materials and math manipulatives, have equipped my students with the tools they need to succeed academically and unleash their creative potential.
In addition to the general supplies, the STEM materials you funded have been nothing short of transformative for our young minds. The innovative kits, equipment, and interactive learning tools have sparked a newfound interest and excitement for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.”

I Hear Cricuts
Funded Oct 26, 2022Thank you so much for your generous gift. We have had so much fun creating things for our bulletin board, stickers, Valentine's and Easter baskets. I love that my students are able to design their own art work and that can be printed out and cut.
We also were able to label our own pencil boxes and put labels on different things around the room.
This has opened up a whole new world for us and it's fun to see the kids begin to understand how they can design their own work and have it come to life!
You are the best.”

Funded Aug 10, 2022My students are really enjoying Scholastic News. Not only are they learning current events, in a fun yet impactful way, they are developing skills which enhance their comprehension in reading. Scholastic News does a great job of differentiating multi level, enriched text to meet all needs. They are introducing skills, such as thinking maps, that demonstrate different comprehension strategies. Some examples include circle maps, flow maps and tree maps. Each of these teach a specific skill to increase understanding of the text and improve higher level thinking.
Reading involves a big portion of our day. We have a pretty extensive ELA program, and Scholastic News fits into it nicely as it reinforces skills being covered. In addition, I love including the material with my social studies and science instruction. The topics are chosen wisely and include a variety of subjects that inevitably spark the interest of all of my students. I love how much they are enjoying it”

Funded Nov 1, 2017My students love flexible seating. They really enjoyed being able to have some "buy in" with their seating arrangement.
We all have our "days". Some days, we want to be left alone and in a safe space. Students were able to do that. Sometimes we want to work in a group with others. Students were able to do that as well.
It was so much fun to see how creative my kiddos were with flexible seating and it actually improved engagement and their desire to learn and create.
Thank you so much for this opportunity.”

Funded Oct 30, 2015Wow! Thank you so much for enriching our classroom with your very generous gift of our classroom iPads. Because of your help, we are on our way to having a one to one iPad ratio. The kids are doing things on a daily basis which continually amazes me. They are using Telegami to create biography reports and making Popplets with their animal reports. They are discussing history and science using the app called Baiboard. My students are practicing problem solving and research skills using Thinglink and Nearpod. They are also simply having fun using Chatterpix where they can make a person in history, an animal or even themselves tell a story.
As you can see, so many doors are opening through the use of technology. The kids are engaged, having a blast and are actually teaching me!
Thank you again so much for giving my students this opportunity!”

Students Will Bloom With STEM!
Funded Oct 10, 2014Thank you so much for the wonderful gift of educational legos, as well as our Scholastic News magazines. You have definitely brought a lot of joy to our classroom and seeing my students' faces light up when the legos were introduced was priceless.
Their first assignment as engineers was to create something that had a moving part and was some sort of technology. Watching my students become active, creative and collaborative was so much fun. I really enjoyed observing the student teams discuss possible designs and solutions. When something didn't quite work, they realized it was okay. They continued working together to determine what went wrong and what they could do differently. These hands on experiences really play a vital role in their comprehension of what engineers truly are. I know that no amount of direct instruction would be as valuable to their retention as working it out and problem solving themselves. Learning by doing is a big part of Common Core and watching my students create, test and refine gave me the confidence in knowing they are acquiring essential skills and knowledge to be successful.
We have also been enjoying working with our Scholastic News magazines. Each issue is aligned with various Common Core Standards, and comes with a video, skills game and follow up worksheet. It has been tremendously helpful in meeting Common Core Standards and the kids really look forward to it. I love how engaged the students are and because it's very interactive, they are truly retaining what is being taught.
Thank you again, Chevron. You have been so instrumental is my students' learning and success. This opportunity is appreciated more than words can say!”

iPad As The Teacher's Pet
Funded Oct 29, 2013Thank you so much for this great opportunity. You have truly inspired my students, as well as myself because of your very generous donation. This is becoming such a great experience for all of us and we are having a blast discovering this new way of learning through technology.
Fortunately, we have a wonderful technology teacher who has been a wealth of information. Through her help, I have been able to connect my computer to my iPad and teach freely throughout the classroom. The kids are able to participate in their own learning using the iPad in whole class situations and independently.
In addition, we are finding new apps that help make our learning fun while being aligned with the new core curriculum standards. Right now I am teaching our new SWUN math program entirely through technology.
This is already such a great experience and I am so thankful for your involvement in our education.”
