Staying Safe and Learning
Funded Jan 8, 2021I can not thank you enough for the generous donation to my classroom. My students love the Lakeshore learning materials. It is hands-on class manipulatives and the students have really enjoyed having the items during this pandemic. Also, I received a laminating machine as part of the request for classroom supplies and the students and myself have really taken laminating and reusing our personalized item to the next level. With this pandemic, cleanliness it top priority, and we have laminated the necessary items to reduce the amount of students using others students materials. Moreover, I received a subscription for the Scholastic news which I have integrated into my weekly lessons and even assigned as part of their spring break assignment. Since I do dual-modality, I had the online students pick up a copy of the article in the office and they are able to complete the articles from the comfort of their homes. Lastly, I received a Science Spin magazine and book club subscription which too has been wonderous for my students and myself. Thank you all that have donate and made my classroom a more enriched and fun place to learn during this pandemic. Thank you!”

Funded Oct 23, 2020Many of my students come from inner city and do not have enough funds to own Ipads, or Airpods. My school has provided most students with laptops during the pandemic. However, with such a large enrollment it is difficult to give each kids a take home device. With the donation, I have been able to connect my students to the world. I had one student complete her diagnostic test using the Ipad donated to my project. With the pandemic in place, all students must have their own device and having the Ipad and Airpods has helped all my students get connected to the virtual ERA of education .Thank you!”

Funded Jun 29, 2020Thank you for your thoughtfulness in sending me the books .I received both young reader books and my class is very happy to know that the books are their level for reading. With the pandemic teachers were not allowed to use their former classroom library books with the students, so the fact that these are brand new books makes it excellent. My students are overly thrilled and can not wait to read them as a class novel. I finally shared the books with my students today and they have not put the books down. They have been opening the books and looking at the illustrations and sharing their thoughts about the book cover. Donor Choose always make me feel so special. I can't wait to to jump into reading. I am beyond grateful to the donors because the impact this will make in my students will last a life time. Kids need books and thanks to the donor, we have two novels we have added to our class library.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you for your donation! Your donation will make our classroom more resourceful and tech friendly. Our school is a title one schools and most children don't have access to laptops nor electronic devices. With your donation our class has access to a variety of things online. Such as, video access, worksheet access, and e-book access. In today's classroom mostly all student books are online. With your donation, the student can view and work on their e-books and finish their assignments on time. Thank you for helping my students reach their goals.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple.Shifting Into Technology!
Funded Dec 20, 2017Thank you so much for the HP laptop, my students are ready to shift into technology. My gifted students are always taking diagnostic test and doing assessments on the computers. With 33 students and only 6 laptops it is time consuming to keep the rotation for all students to be able to access the computers during their computer time . Thanks to the donation from Donors Choose I can divide my class into larger groups and rotate the time on the computer smoothly. I am humbled and grateful for such wonderful donors that make big impact in kids lives.”

Funded Nov 28, 2016You made my year! I just opened my e-mail and found that my project had various generous donation and had been funded. Your support means so much to my students and I, not only to the school, but to the kids you are helping.
Here at South Hialeah Elementary, our goal is to make sure all student receive the best education possible. I can't express the gratitude my students and I fell for all the goods received. To start, my class is a gifted second grade which does the majority of their test on-line and with two computers it is extremely difficult to complete the test in the provided window. So the two chrome note books my class received are really allowing the kids to finish the test within the test block window and also log into a program that reads books too. Moreover, the Time for kids and Scholastic News are a true enrichment to the class. To start by saying that Miami-Dade Schools does not provide a hard book for Social Studies and with all the monthly current events in the two magazines, my students are in tuned with history and today's world. My students are the generation of good readers and test takers, and with the donated supplies, I really believe that my class will live up to its name.
Thank you! You truly have made a difference.”

We Are United
Funded Nov 1, 2013I currently teach first through fifth grade at South Hialeah Elementary a title one school meaning most of our students receive free lunch because they come from a low-income house hold. The day the IPAD arrived and I showed it to the class, the kids very ecstatic and were eager to get there hand on the tablet. I created a monthly log that allows students to share the IPAD once a weekend and take it home to do research on an assigned topic. For example this week my second graders have been learning about Benjamin franklin. This weekend Daniella will be taking the IPAD home from 12/06/2013 and is responsible to return it to the school by 12/09/2013, she will do an extension of the lesson and share her research with a class for a grade. Each child participating in this research project has a signed document stating that parents is aware that the child will be taking home the IPAD and is responsible for the care of the device. So far all my parents in the second grade have signed and are delighted with the project.
In the classroom I have three groups in second grade and what I created was a log to allow the IPAD to rotate once a week from group to group allowing all the students access within the month. This system has proved to be very effective and the students can't wait their turns for when their group is allowed to use the IPAD. This project "We are United," has completed boosted the students since the IPAD arrived, and has engaged my students into the more technological way of doing research.”
