  • Help Bring Critical Tech to Children with Disabilities!

    Funded Dec 31, 2015

I get to use a lot of different apps and that is why I like the iPad. I can use geomaster and learn about geography, but I can also read and do many other things. Math apps are great too! Thank you. -Darnelle

I like to use the iPad for Dragon Box. It's a great way for me to learn Algebra!- Sean

The iPad helps me to read because it also has an audio part. That way I can check what I am reading and it fills in for any of the problems that come up. I like to use it for games also, like Minecraft! - Angel”

A guitar in our classroom is super fun. We can finally learn different songs and chords rom Mr. Harvey. It's always good to have a guitar here! -Destiny

With the guitar we can now play music with Mr. Harvey. We get to do it whenever we have free time. It helps with the different problems and having people calm down in school. -Darnelle

Music makes it better in the class. We can play it and learn it also. My favorite was to learn different chords and play them together with Mr. Harvey too. - Angel”

  • Classroom Staples for Disenfranchised Youth

    Funded Nov 27, 2015

Thank you so much for your contribution. You have given us the staples that we need to operate on a day to day basis. My students now can show off their clean tables by way of the use of the garbage bags that we have utilized. Further, our students used notepads and pens on an almost daily basis. The folders have been used mostly by myself and the paraprofessional to organize their work and administer the classroom paperwork. The microwave has been used so far as a convenient popcorn maker to keep our students concentrated on their work and not their hunger.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Harvey

  • Help Students with Disabilities Build an Audio Lab!

    Funded Dec 2, 2015

Now we have headphones for our audio lab! We can use the books and other plug ins directly in it. Thank you. - Angel

The most exciting for me is to play Guitar Hero for behavior rewards with the headphones plugged in! - Isaac

We're going to use it everyday. Then we're going to practice all the time. It's much more fun when I listen. - Angel

Now we can use our Pearson Green books with the audio lab without having to do big groups, it's my own project now and I can concentrate better. Thanks.- Antonio”

  • Classroom Staples for Disabled Youth!

    Funded Jan 4, 2016

Our class needs a printer, a basic staple of the middle school classroom. This need is even more desperate as our students have an array of learning disabilities, from specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia and discalculalia, to emotional disorders and autism spectrum disorder needs.

Our students now have a printer! After being in classrooms with printers that allow for shared access to readings and curriculum resources, the students in my classroom needed the same. A classroom printer is a basic necessity in any middle school or high school.

Without a printer we had no access to our curriculum worksheets, shared readings, math resources, graphic organizers, journal prompts, learning aids, graph paper, etc. Now we do! Students with disabilities need as many learning resources as possible in order to be able to learn. Thanks to you, they have some!”

  • Hand Soap for Disenfranchised Youth!

    Funded Dec 12, 2015

Thank you for your help! We are thankful that we now have soap to clean our hands after our activities. In our school many students catch colds and pass these viruses and bacteria between them if they don't eliminate these germs before shaking hands. Your contribution helps us stay away from catching colds and keeping ourselves clean after we complete tasks. With your help now we don't have to just wash our hands in water without soap. Thanks again for your helpful contribution to our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Harvey
