Empowering Minds: iPad for Science and Wellness
Funded Sep 25, 2024Thank you for funding this project. Many of my students come from a difficult socio-economic lifestyle, so having the latest technology for them to complete classwork can be a challenge. Since I have started using iPads in my science classroom, my students have become more engaged and have a much better time visualizing complex scientific concepts that I would normally have to explain to them more than once. Many of my students make use of the iPad to access technologies such as Gizmo's to explore virtual simulations of labs that I am unable to normally conduct in class. Although I only have one iPad, many of the students are able to work in small groups to complete the assignments, which frees me up for other students to work with them one on one. Also the ability of having a device readily accessible that can access the internet whole they search for the necessary information is an asset in my science classroom.
As mentioned earlier, having students work together in small groups where they complete assignments allow them to learn collaboration skills and work in groups to complete a common goal. By using various apps designed for the classroom, students can access the necessary information without having to flip through multiple screens, making the sharing of knowledge and other information easy. Although collaboration is not always possible in my class, the iPads make my student completing the necessary coursework much easier. My students are eager to come to class with the hopes of working with the iPad to complete not only my work, but other assignments for other classes.
Thank you for helping me fund this project. My hope is to one day have enough i[ads for every student in my class so they can all become the self-motivated leaders of tomorrow.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Sanchez
