My fabulous firsties are budding readers who love to dive into a new book. With budget cuts for materials and virtually no money for text books, our school is fighting the battle of not being able to receive title one funds but still needing to support our little learners. This year we have taken on school wide Guided Reading. I have chosen to implement this in the form of The Daily 5. My students have loved this program! I am hoping to add to their passion for reading by adding to our Listen to Reading rotation. In this portion of The Daily 5, students listen to fluent readers read and follow along in order to build new vocabulary and build their own reading fluency. We are currently lacking the materials to allow more than one child to take part in this rotation at a time.
