Guitar Club

Guitar Club has been a great success this year and I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation. Students were so happy and excited when we first unpacked our instruments. For many of them, it was their first time holding an instrument or a guitar. Students enjoyed "school of rock" so much that they wanted to bring their siblings and friends to it from other schools.

Students have made their own songs and have had the invaluable experience of creating their own music. They learned introductory music theory and guitar skills, learned how to play guitar chords, and learned soloing techniques such as bends, slides, and double stops. They had fun discovering the differences between different genres of music and learning about different historic musicians. Students have also had the chance to teach one another what they have learned on guitar. In addition, they have seen the connection between practice/effort and improvement as a guitar player. Guitar club has been a tremendous experience for students and I cannot thank you enough for helping to make "School of Rock" possible.
