Help Develop Digital Learners
Funded Oct 24, 2018We are so thrilled to have been granted our wish on DonorsChoose.org. My students were so excited that they would be able to work on their iReady usage during the school day. Many of the students in my class do not have access to internet at home. The district requires a minimum of 45 minutes for Reading and 45 minutes for Math each week. Students and parents were frustrated that they were not able to complete their required time because of limited access. Once we received the computers, we set up a center where four students can complete their online lessons at a time. Students have learned the rotation and are so motivated to complete their assignments each week.
The most exciting part of having these computers is that the student scores have increased. After completing the second Diagnostic tests, the data shows that all students have increased in their Reading, Math, or both! Can you believe that?! These Kindergarten students are learning to read and the test data proves it. They have learned to keep track of who is next on the laptop and are monitoring the minutes they have worked.
This generous gift that we have received has impacted all 18 students in the class! Students are motivated and are actually eager to complete their lessons. Students monitor their progress and visit the "Laptop Center" at least once a day. Parents are thankful that they can accomplish these assignments in school as it is difficult to access the internet at home. Once again, our hearts are filled with gratitude with this most precious gift given to us!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Chevron Fuel Your School.Reading Takes Us to New Places
Funded Oct 25, 2013I can't begin to tell you how excited my students were when they heard the news that we were getting a new laptop and projector for our class! They talked about it every day until the materials arrived!
We use these resources on a daily basis with our Reading program. Students listen to interactive stories, play fun activities that build their vocabulary skills, & even watch videos that introduce the concepts we are learning about. Also, we take "brain breaks" when necessary on a site that allows students to stand up & move either to 3 minute stretching activities, running in place, & even zumba dances!
These resources have been such a wonderful tool for supplementing my instruction and the students' learning. They are so excited to use the projector to see stories come to life. The videos are visually stimulating and capture the attention of all the students in the class. On rainy days when the students cannot go outside, we use the projector to put on fun indoor activities for the kids to participate & be active!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Pelaez
