Kindergarten Creativity with Chromebooks
Funded Feb 1, 2015Thank you so much for donating to our project. Our students were very excited when the chrome books arrived and they couldn't wait to start using them on a regular basis within the classroom. The children truly enjoy using the chrome books and it is amazing to see how much they have improved in their ability to use technology independently.
The students are using the chrome books on a daily basis during literacy workstations. Having the chrome books within the classroom allows them to access stories that they can listen to and read at their own level. They also use the chrome books during math and science workstations to practice previously taught math skills and explore science topics discussed.
Because my students are using the chrome books on a daily basis their technology skills have improved immensely. I am amazed at how quickly they have learned to access each learning website. With the use of my classroom Elmo and chrome book I am able to access the Internet much quicker when using online resources to teach my students. This allows me to model how to access and use different learning sites so that my students are able to explore them independently during workstations. It has also provided us with the opportunity to explore live web cams and educational video clips of animals that we have been learning about in class.
In our classroom we focus on the importance of working as a team and helping each other. Your donation to our project was a wonderful way for our students to see first hand how positive things happen when people work together for a cause.”

The Magic Carpet: A Safe Place for Exploring in Kindergarten
Funded Oct 28, 2013Thank you so much for donating to our project. Your thoughtfulness and generosity is greatly appreciated. The students truly enjoy our new classroom rug and it is amazing to see what a difference it has made for our classroom community.
When it first arrived the students were in awe over how soft and colorful it is. Our new rug really is the heart of our classroom. It is the first thing the children see when they enter the room and the colorful squares provide a warm and inviting environment to come to every morning. When the students arrive each day, they are no longer confused about where to sit or distracted by peeling duct tape as each of them have a colorful square to call their own.
Throughout the day our rug is used as a gathering space for exploring with partners, sharing books, and growing together. It has been a wonderful aide in teaching my students about personal space and safety when working together. When exploring with manipulatives and engaging in movement breaks the students are able to visually see their boundary or work space.
Our classroom rug has also been a wonderful math and science tool. When sharing show-n-tell items the colorful rows are used to organize, sort and classify our objects. Now that winter has arrived and we are often indoors for recess, the students have used their imaginations and even enjoy using our classroom rug as a magnificent stage for singing and dancing.
In our classroom we focus on the importance of working as a team and helping each other. Your donation to our project was a wonderful way for our students to see first hand how positive things happen when people work together for a cause.”
