Fantasy Fiction: Using An Author Series Within The Genre

My students have been enjoying the books which your generous donations purchased for our class. We are working our way through the fantasy fiction novels and they are loving them! I think some of them are also very suprised that they are actually able to read the novel I chose for them and understand it. The discussions the groups have been having are amazing. We have also been using these books to drive our writing projects at this time.

The students have gained a great insight into the genre of fantasy fiction. I have heard several of them commenting that they can't wait to read the next book in the series and that they hope they can read the entire series. This is exactly the result I was hoping for! It has been very encouraging for me as an instructor to challenge their reading levels with these books and to see their enthusiasm for reading increase through the use of these novels.”
