Endless Possibilities with 3D printing in the Biology Classroom
Funded Aug 5, 2019First and foremost, Thank you so much for the generous donations towards our project. Some concepts and ideas in biology are so abstract in the world of biology. Allowing some of the ideas to literally come to life for these students gave them an insight into what the technological world offers in today's society, and gave my students an opportunity for hands on learning that will drive their effort in the classroom.
My students are required to take the Biology EOC exam and giving them concrete examples and opportunity to learn with visuals and actual tactile objects would allow for better understanding. With the 3D printer, we have created some amazing projects creating 3d cells and organelles to better understand their form and function.
Thank you so very much for this educational opportunity for my students!

Move over CSI Miami... Make Way for CSI Doral Academy!!!
Funded Oct 22, 2013First and foremost, thank you so much for your generosity and allowing my students the experiences of real life crime scene investigators. Throughout the school year, my students got the opportunity to take real life fingerprint impressions using the magnetic fingerprint powder and they were able to analyze patterns using oil development and lifting tape to solve a simulated crime. Students were also able to use synthetic blood and blood spatter analysis kit to analyze blood spatter using multiple wound simulations.
As the boxes were delivered to my classroom, students immediately began to inquire if those boxes were for them.. it was like Christmas in our classroom! I allowed the students to help me un box all the items and we went over and explained what each item was and for what lab we would be using it for. They were amazed at all the resources we now had for our new program!
as the years will go by.. I would like to open up more opportunities for my students. I am working on teaching new classes like zoology and marine science and will definitely be thinking of project ideas for those as well.”
