We are a Title I high school with a majority of our students coming from a low socioeconomic status with free or reduced price lunch. These students enter our high school disadvantaged in basic supplies, academic knowledge, and low self esteem in their mathematics ability. Sadly many students do not have a computer at home. For most students, the cell phone is their only source to the Internet. At school the supplies provided to us for class instruction barely meet the needs for STEM and common core learning. Despite these downfalls our students are motivated, caring, and have the desire to attend college. With the right tools, these students will not just acquire a better understanding in mathematics, but will have an awareness of the importance of STEM education in the real world.
