Sitting in Small Group Style

Help me give my students a more comfortable seating option in our classroom environment to provide them with a group area that lends itself more easily to collaborative work than a typical student desk.

  • Special Education Sensory Supply Stash

    Funded Jan 1, 2025

Your kindness and generosity has affected numerous students across varying grade levels at PS 31. As a school we have created an inventory list, and as teachers see the need in their individual classrooms for particular sensory materials, they borrow items from our stash to benefit their students' individual needs. This has been a huge support to the teachers who are always looking for creative ways to help their students self regulate.

The students have welcomed the materials greatly. The weighted lap animals were a huge hit. As one student commented, "It's heavy and lovable and squishy, too!" They have also shown to improve their organizational skills utilizing the chair pockets.

Overall, on behalf of both the teachers and students, we thank you whole heartedly for your support of this project. The best part is that many of these items are reusable. So, we plan to continually borrow and return items to the stash so that your generosity will impact both teachers and students in the years to come as well. We are so grateful for you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franco

  • There's Lots of FUN in Executive Functioning Skills!

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

Thank you for your generous contributions to our classroom. My students are enjoying Fun Friday activities while also strengthening their executive functioning skills! They look forward to this at the end of every week and are grateful for your generosity! Whether it's a game of Jenga, Uno, Taboo or simply a silly Amelia Bedilia tale and activity, our Fridays are full of laughter and smiles while we ensure they sharpen very important skills at the same time. These opportunities are truly priceless!”

  • Gimme A Break! A Sensory Break!

    Funded Nov 23, 2021

Thank you for your kindness and generosity in funding this project. My students have been making great use of all of our sensory materials which have aided in their access to the curriculum. They bumpy letter cards have been so helpful for the students to trace when learning to identify letters, sounds and even sight words. The sensory balls have provided an opportunity for students to gain sensory input and manipulate these tools as fidgets to help heighten their awareness in class. The wiggle seats have given them a tool to enable them to remain comfortably in the seats with the opportunity to wiggle around as needed. Altogether, these tools have been a great addition to my class and have provided my students with the opportunity to choose from a multitude of options at our sensory center.”

    With gratitude,

  • Making Reading Fun!

    Funded Apr 26, 2021

Thank you so very much for your generosity in funding our reading resources. I work with my students daily and we try to save some extra time at the end of our lessons on Friday to have some Fun Friday time. During this time, we utilize the reading games and activities you purchased for us to reinforce the sounds and word families we are learning in class. My students are loving all of these games, especially the Word Dice and Bingo! The look forward to Fun Friday time every week! In the words of my students, "These reading games are the best!"”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franco

These fun games will give my students an opportunity to engage in fun/social activities with their friends while reinforcing the skills taught in class at the same time. So many of my students are struggling readers. When they are faced with a list of words or a paragraph, they are easily discouraged upon immediately viewing the page. Providing opportunities for games will enable them to practice while having fun in a less intimidating manner. These games will be utilized as incentives for students after completing the main lessons in class.
