First Grade Frenzy!
Funded Jun 2, 2023Thank you so much for the Legos. These are used for a daily incentive for completion of work. They are able to be immersed in STEM while creating architectural designs. The CD player serves as a listening center for students as they are able to listen and follow along with the book as the CD is read to them in order to hear a model of what an exceptional reader sounds like. The students are also excited about the magnetic letters. They can sort consonants and vowels as well as create their own consonant vowel consonant words for sentences.
The thought and consideration that you showed by purchasing these products will not be forgotten. Most of the district's curriculum now is scripted and there is little room for creativity so we will make sure that we create lasting memories with the resources that you've provided.”

Funded Jan 31, 2019Words can not express the fullness that I have in my heart. Coming from a low socioeconomic neighborhood my students often come not knowing how to work simple things such as a mouse on a computer. This gift will help them receive the knowledge they need. This computer will be used in school for students to log on to their reading and math resources that they are supposed to use at home as well but can't due to lack of technology. It's exiting for the students because many don't have a computer or laptop at home. It's amazing to see how many students don't know how to use a mouse. You will never know how much you really helped us!”

Funded Oct 10, 2018Words can't even begin to express what these materials have meant to our classroom. Today a group of students have been able to complete the one hundred train in their math workstation for the first time. They are learning and I see their progress since the beginning of school. The sheer joy on their faces is all I need to see. They were so proud of their accomplishment.
Upon the materials arrival the look of shock was priceless. They cheered and screamed. They were in love immediately with their new materials and promised me that they would do their best to learn with them and treat their new things right.
The next steps are to use the materials as we learn the objectives for more practice so that they can excel on their standardized tests. The main objective is to have fun with these new learning materials as well as learn to do their very best. I'm teaching them that learning is fun and now they truly see!”

Funded Oct 26, 2017Thank you so much for your generous contribution! We are using the listening center to listen to books being read and tracking the words with a partner. The 120 chart is used daily by a chosen student for our math counting routine. The math instant learning centers are used daily during workstation time. The beanbag is a hit! They love lounging on it as they leisurely read a book during read to self time.
When the materials were delivered, I told them that what we needed for our classroom was donated and they screamed with joy. They wanted me to tell you thank you and were very appreciative. The previous week we just talked about needs versus wants and saving, earning and donating.
The next steps for our current writing project is to gather materials for the writing station to make it more interesting such as greeting cards, post it notes, recipes, letters, bills, etc. This shows students that writing is used throughout life. I also want to have things in the writing station to make writing more fun such as smelly markers, gel pens, etc.”

Kindergarten Kids Konstructing Kreative Khaos
Funded Aug 22, 2015I just want to thank you so much and let you know that your donation is being well utilized. My students and I are using the new resources to work on sight word recognition, phonics, rhyming, as well as sequence. When I teach rhyming in a whole group then pull students to work again in a small group, these resources really help solidify the objective taught.
When the students first saw the materials they were jumping up and down and a few begin to cry with excitement. These children rarely have anything of value so the appreciation is plentiful.
The next steps for my students are to continue working with the various resources every week. As they master one objective, they are free to go to the next.
The work that you do is not in vain. Please know that we are always thinking about you every time we visit the workstations.”

Fifty First Graders Frantic for a Foundation
Funded Dec 3, 2013Upon entrance, the Lakeshore boxes were met with anticipation. I explained the process of how we needed more materials to facilitate their learning. When I opened the boxes it was like Christmas all over again in January. The materials were met with oohs and aahs as I explained how we are to treat our new manipulatives. The students said things like "cool" and "this will help us to read better". Someone even asked to take them home.
My students and I are using the workstations on Fridays when we have "Fun Friday". It is during this time the students think they are playing instead of learning.
This project boosted my children's learning because they were able to look at the picture and use the sounds that they have learned in order to spell the word. Thank you so much for everything that you do!”
