  • Thriving Through TECHNOLOGY!

    Funded Oct 10, 2018

Thank you for your generosity in funding this project. We are so happy to have an additional laptop in our class to help with our technology center. Having the laptop makes a huge difference in the class during rotation center activities. The laptop has been very useful in helping our students to access the reading online program, which is designed with lessons to reach them at their individual levels.

Our primary students are so excited to use the hands-on phonics games in Kindergarten. They are more motivated to use the phonics blending kits to sound out the words and this helps to make them better readers. The phonics wheels with vowel pairs are used in groups and this helps students to collaborate with each other, working together to learn the sounds. We are forever grateful for your amazing donation. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wazidali

  • Making Magic Happen With Technology!

    Funded Oct 23, 2017

Thanks to your generous donations, the learning games and materials are impacting our students from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. These students are enthusiastic about learning and manipulating the HOT dot pens and HOT dots games to sound out beginning vowel sounds, digraphs and blends. They are now eager to collaborate and work in small groups to develop their reading skills.

Our ESOL students are using these tools to develop English language acquisition. The Kindergarten students are excited to select books from the Little Readers' Libraries to read. They are identifying the characters, setting and events from the stories. As a result, their scores on the mid-year reading diagnostic test has significantly improved and they are well on their way to being on grade level.

Thank you Donors Choose, we couldn't have done it without you!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wazidali

  • Technology-The Pen and Paper of Today!

    Funded Nov 28, 2016

I can't even begin to tell you how much of an impact your generous donations have made in our students' lives. With the HOT Dots pens, students who struggle with English are now able to hear the sounds and interact with the picture cards to identify beginning and ending digraphs and blends to help them read words.

The Kindergarten students are using the Smart Tablets and with the applications of the Alphabet sounds and interactive learning games, they are off to a great start IN becoming fluent readers. This has opened up a whole new world for students who don't have access to computers at home and they are now eager to come to school to get a chance to "play" and learn new things with the pre-loaded apps on the Smart Tablets.

The Building Sentences boxes have gone a long way with helping students in First and Second grades to work independently as well as in pairs to collaborate and build sentences together. These boxes have also been great with our ELL students as they have pictures to assist them with building sentences. Our students are so excited and this could not be possible without your help! We really appreciate all that you have done for us!!! THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wazidali

  • Brilliant Minds at Work

    Funded Feb 5, 2015

My students and I are very grateful to you for your generous donation to this project. The rug is absolutely beautiful and the children love to sit on it and work on their class projects. They were so excited when they saw the paint sets, they couldn't wait to use them. Since receiving the items, the fourth graders have completed a Math project, incorporating various angles, perpendicular and parallel lines and rays. They have used the garden themed rug as inspiration and of course, they used the paint sets to bring their project to life.

The first graders have used the "Watch and Grow" kit to plant Lima beans, which have grown to 14 inches in height already. This has been a very useful tool for me to teach the Life Science component of plants' life cycle. They were able to see the roots emerging from the soil through the clear plastic container. Every morning, they run to the window area to water the plants and to measure and record in their journals. The fifth graders are excited about the STEM science kit and it has been a useful tool for me to incorporate with their science lessons in review for the upcoming state exam. Also,we now have the much needed headsets while working on the computers.

We are so happy that you chose to fund our project and the materials have definitely impacted my teaching and my students' learning tremendously! Once again, a heartfelt "Thank-You" from all of us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wazidali

  • Oh, the Places You'll Go...With Technology

    Funded Oct 24, 2014

My gifted students are so excited with all the resources they have received. They can't wait to come into the classroom each and every day and work on their STEM science kits. The 4th and 5th graders have already explored how to make circuits with the kits and see the light bulbs work when attached to the wires. The first graders are always asking to sit on the new carpet and get their creative juices flowing as they build and explore using the lego pieces.

The new tablets and printer came in just in time for the students to finalize their Science Fair Projects and print them out in the classroom. Their dreams have now become a reality as they get to be proficient with the new technology available to them.

I'm so grateful to the donors and the Donors Choose team for giving my students these valuable resources. You have given more than just material things, you have opened up a whole new world for these students and we will never forget your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wazidali

  • Soaring to Great Heights with iTools

    Funded Dec 5, 2013

My students and I are extremely grateful for youR generous donations to our Gifted Program. The students are using the tablets, along with the flash drives to create Power Point Presentations and they are so excited about learning. They now have more time and access to the Internet to complete class assignments.

Thanks to you, they are going to be better prepared for their journey to Middle school. This is going to give them such an advantage and allow them to excel long after they leave my class. You are an integral part in the development and nurturing of their creativity in the area of technology. Words cannot express how grateful and thankful we are for donors like you. THANK YOU!!!”

    With gratitude,

  • The Absorbent Mind...Moving into the 21st Century!

    Funded Nov 8, 2013

My students are so excited and grateful for the resources that they now have, thanks to all our generous donors at DonorsChoose. When I told them that we were getting these items, their first reaction was "No way! Are you serious?" The printer was the first to arrive and they couldn't believe that we can now print, especially in color. When the ipad arrived, they all shouted and jumped up and down with joy.

Every day, my students sit on the cushions and work on the rug, even the fifth graders. (You're never too old to enjoy this!) The ipad has greatly impacted my teaching and the students' learning. They are now using this technology tool to create newsletters for our class. Also, for the first time this year, my students were able to print their graphs and documents for the Science Fair Project using the color printer. Many of my students hand write the information as they don't have any access to computers at home, so having this resource really made a huge difference in the outcome of their projects. We also had our very first Parent Night Science Fair last week for the Gifted students to display their boards.

Your contribution has allowed these brilliant minds to really explore many avenues, in a fun and exciting way. THANK YOU DONORS CHOOSE!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wazidali

My students are amazing with inquisitive minds despite being in a high-poverty, inner-city neighborhood in Miami, Florida. Our school is a Title 1 school and our classes range from Kindergarten to 5th Grade. Most of our students, 81%, are on free and reduced lunch. Although our students are faced with many socio-economic challenges, they are eager to learn and they need to explore frequently beyond the four walls of the classroom.
