We Need Supplies for a New School Year!
Funded Sep 28, 2016Thank you so much for all of the new school supplies! Words can't fully express how thankful we are for your contribution. When the new supplies arrived, my students and I were so excited. They couldn't wait to use everything! Since receiving these supplies, students have been working on several projects likes brochures, comic strips, etc. Students have also been able to use the index cards to work on their study habits and this has been a big help! We just recently finished making brochures and foldables about Mesopotamia. Next we'll be making Instagram accounts of the pharaohs of Egypt as well as Ancient Egyptian newspapers! Thank you so very much!”

New Track Team Needs Equipment to Improve Fitness and Speed!
Funded Sep 2, 2016Thank you so much for donating to this project to help improve our Track & Field team. My athletes were so excited and curious to see the plyometric platform boxes as well as the medicine balls. They were anxious to use the new equipment and learn how it would help them. My coaches and I provided our athletes with instruction on how to use the new equipment and how they would benefit from it. Once they overcame some of their fears about not being able to jump all the way up on the plyometric platform box, they thoroughly enjoyed incorporating it into our practice routine. Now we make time during every practice to do some box jumps to strengthen our leg muscles and use the medicine balls to strengthen our core. Once again, thank you so much for helping us get stronger and faster!”

Funded Mar 9, 2016My athlete's and I cannot thank you all enough for your generous donations! We just finished our first track season and everyone had an amazing time thanks to all of the equipment we were able to get for our team. The kids practiced hard everyday using all of our new equipment. At the beginning of the season they focused on using the speed ladder to get faster. Trying to get through the speed ladder without stepping on it was something they really struggled with, but by the end of the season they were pros.
The equipment they loved to use the most were definitely the hurdles and the shot puts. The hurdles were a great way to help them gain self confidence. At first, they were a little intimidated about jumping over something so big and fearful of falling and getting hurt. Once they saw that they were able to jump over the hurdle after a few tries, I couldn't pull them away from it! They would beg me each day to take out the hurdles so they could practice. My throwers loved practicing shot put. They started each day with the basics on form and technique. By the end of the season they were able to coach each other and help out one another to make sure they all had the right form. It was a truly wonderful thing to witness.
Our season ended on such a high note. We competed at the Track Championships at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island. Our 4x100m girls relay team qualified for this event along with 14 other athletes. They ended up improving their best time by 3 seconds at this meet! For all of my athletes, this was the first time they competed at a big stadium with hundreds of other students. They all did amazing, but most importantly they had a smile on their face the entire time.
Thank you so much for helping to get our track team up and running. It's truly been life changing for some of our athletes. They've learned so much about being a student-athlete, and building their character. We wouldn't have been able to do all of this without you.”

Funded Dec 1, 2015Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom and supplying us with paper and ink for the year! With these materials, my students have been able to do so much. We're able to print out numerous graphic organizers to help organize our information, keep our notebooks organized and up to date with a table of contents, and bring our notebooks to life by making them interactive notebooks with foldables and maps. We've also been able to use these materials to help print out projects that we've made in the classroom. Thank you so much for your generosity!”

Funded Mar 18, 2015I can't thank you enough for your generosity and helping this project come to life. Because of all of you, I was able to learn Spanish over the summer and start the school year off being able to communicate and welcome all of my students and their parents! The smiles on their faces when they heard me speaking in Spanish made me realize just how important getting the Rosetta Stone was. The most exciting thing about being able to speak Spanish is being able to ask my students how they're doing and really get to know them as an individual. Prior to knowing Spanish, the language barrier prevented me from being able to do that. I know my students are just as thankful for your generosity as I am.”

Funded Dec 28, 2014My students were so excited to see the new art supplies in our classroom and that they had toner to print out their essays and projects! Immediately they asked where all of the supplies came from and when I explained that you all had donated to our classroom, they were so thankful.
Since we've received these supplies, students have been using them non-stop! When students work in their interactive notebooks there are several times when they need to include a picture, drawing, or map related to what they're learning. Immediately they reach for the bin filled with new markers and crayons. Their notebooks look amazing and the new art supplies have really motivated them to keep their interactive notebooks in tip-top shape. In addition, students completed their first essay which was a historical argument. Because of the toner that was supplied to us from the donations for this project, they were able to type up their essays and print them out. Seeing their essays printed and looking professional made them feel so proud of their work!
Words cannot express how thankful I am and my students are to all of you for your donations to this project.”

Funded Aug 26, 2014My students and I are so thankful for your donation to this project. Having all of these supplies at the start of school year was a wonderful way to begin. My students were so excited to see that their social studies classroom was fully equipped with all of the necessary materials for them to be successful!
This school year, my classroom has been extremely organized thanks to the materials from this project. The table bins and paper organizer have made it much easier for students to have easy access to all of these materials. They enjoy having markers, pencils, crayons, and glue right in front of them and easy to use. Students have used these materials to create newspapers, comic strips, and posters to show what they've learned. I've also used the materials from this project to create a beautiful classroom that students enjoy coming in to with vibrant bulletin board paper and borders.
Thank you again for helping so many students! We are forever grateful to you.”

We Need A Magazine Subscription!!!
Funded Aug 27, 2014Words cannot express how grateful my students and I are for your generosity. The magazine subscription to Junior Scholastic has been one of the best additions to social studies class this year. Each time we receive a new edition, my students are instantly captivated by the cover and they can't wait to dive right in!
A few times a month, we take a step back from what we are currently learning and make room to educate ourselves about current events. Students begin by taking a look through the magazine on their own and they are given time to read any article that they are interested in. After, we read the article featured on the front cover together as a class. My students get so interested in the articles they read in this magazine. They all have their hands up wanting to ask questions about the topic and know more. When we've finished examining a particular topic, students write a blog post about it.
Reading and writing about current events has been one of their favorite assignments in social studies this year. I'm overjoyed that my students are able to read about the news in a way that is suitable for them, learn about a topic, and start generating their own opinions about different issues. Thank you for making this possible!”
