I teach Arabic language to 300 students in a public school in downtown Brooklyn, where approximately 40% of my students receive free or reduced price lunch. Due to budget cuts, the school has been unable to provide me with a laptop and software needed to bring the language and culture alive for my young students. A laptop will allow me to show them cultural videos and Arabic language programs and will allow them to play language games. It will also provide me with a way to create appealing colorful visuals, poster and board games that will appeal to this young population.
