Spell It Say It
Funded May 16, 2020Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was so hoping that when I asked for the materials to be used with my students we would be in the classroom. What a surprise we had at the last minute saying "no" minds were changed and we would start the year off at home.
Even though it was a disappointment to me not starting the year with my five year olds, I was glad that through the generosity of my donors I was able to provide my students the materials that we would use with our virtual learning.
I was given the opportunity to personally hand out some of the packets that I had made up with the materials to my students and they were so excited about their own resources and the beginning of the school year. I couldn't have done it without generous donors. Thank you again very much for your help!!”

Funded Nov 13, 2019All I can say is "Thank You!" When I first emptied our manipulatives out of the box, their eyes seemed to become wide open like Christmas morning! Everyone wanted to start creating something right away. I thought I was going to have to explain to my Kindergarteners how it might go together-but you can tell from the pictures they couldn't wait to get started.
The flower models came just in time as we started discussing living and non-living things and we have kept them out as we are now finishing up types of plants. These models demonstrated to our students what the inside of our plants look like.
The last thing which we received were the puppets...Students were eager to try them on and role play. Again, they were available as we discussed living and nonliving things, along with different types of animals.
Each and every gift allowed the students to use their imagination and incorporated cooperative play which is deeply needed in our schools today.
Once again.....
Thank you on the behalf of my class and myself”

Does It Look Good on Me?
Funded Aug 8, 2017I would like to say "thank you" myself for donating to my class. Yesterday I went in the closet where I had been storing the outfits just waiting to have the opportunity to share them with the class.
It just seemed to be the right time. As I put them on the table, you would have thought it was Christmas! The students started turning the packages over and taking claim to what they wanted. Somehow I had only ordered one black shirt along with several red ones, and it was the first one chosen. I felt bad that I didn't order enough for everyone to get one.
I had two girls who the dresses fit perfectly. One boy wore his shirt again today to school so I know he really enjoyed it. I know students don't like to pose when getting their pictures taken, so it may not totally show how they felt, but believe me they did!!”

Funded Oct 10, 2016I thought about what to write to your company to express my gratitude for supplying materials to my classroom like the tablets, Scholastic News, and colored ink cartridges to be able to print off students actively learning in the room.
I had discussed with my students where we obtained our gifts. Listed below are two responses which my students wrote down on thank you cards which I understand you don't want, but I want you to know what they thought.
Elijah stated: "Thank you Chevron for buying us our tables and our Scholastic News. We use both things for learning, but we use them in different subjects. We use the tables in math and we use the Scholastic News in Science. Thank you!
Morgan stated: Thank you for giving us a tablet and for paying for the Scholastic News. We are lucky to have you Chevron caring for us. Thank you for helping us learn!
I couldn't have said it any better!”

Funded Dec 5, 2013What can I say but "Thank You" again for obtaining the supplies for my Science classroom. One of the first things I was able to do was to replace broken crayons with brand new ones. Serving close to 700 students, crayons get broken fast. "Yeah" was one of the first things which came out of their mouths when they saw them.
I have been able to use the picture cards to reinforce a concept which we have been discussing in lab. This is especially helpful with DES or ESL students. We have used the hands-on tubs with lights and sounds to further their understanding of how vibrations and prisms work. We have also used many sheets of both the manila and colored construction paper to create projects such as the kindergarteners drawing and cutting out animals from different habitats and gluing them into the correct chart.
The use of the resources has enabled me to demonstrate how to create projects and with the students being able to have enough materials to create their own. Again, I say "Thank You".”
With gratitude,
Ms. Covert
