iPads to Enhance Classroom Instruction
Funded Jun 2, 2015Your generous donations to my project earlier this year provided me the opportunity to bring technology into the classroom. The days where teachers could spend 45 minutes standing in front of the classroom and lecture students are gone, and technology is becoming more essential for teachers everyday. Your gift allowed teachers to be more creative with their lesson plans, but more importantly, it helped students engage with classroom lessons and assessments. Furthermore, because of your gift, many teachers around the school have seen the change technology can bring to a classroom, and have started using computers and iPads in their own classrooms. You have helped, not only how students learn, but how teachers teach, and for this I am thankful.”

AP Class Materials Needed to Enlighten Minds!
Funded Oct 23, 2013It has been three months since you were generous enough to donate to my project, which helped my students receive new books. I wanted to let everyone know that these texts have been a huge help in my classroom. So far, my students have finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and have absolutely loved reading the text. It is very rare to find a book that every student loves, but we definitely hit the jackpot with A Thousand Splendid Suns. My students really like how interesting and easy the read is, but they are also fascinated with how complex some of the issues and ideas are within the text.
With A Thousand Splendid Suns, students have looked at the political, cultural, and historical elements of middle eastern culture. Students are also exploring the question "to what extent is A Thousand Splendid Suns or any work of literature a critique on the world?" Reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, and The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison is allowing my students to really understand that authors are commenting on the human condition through the use of story. Now, I could have accomplished this with other texts, but I wanted my students to enjoy the readings and not be hassled with the assignment of reading a text they could not relate to. Thanks to your donation I was able to do this. You not only provided my students with books they enjoy, but you also gave me the opportunity to teach books that I love and for that I thank you tremendously.”
