  • Little Learners Love 3D!

    Thank you so much for donating the AMAZING 3-D pens to our classroom! When I submitted this project, I anticipated the students would be highly engaged with the lessons. What I didn't anticipate were all the additional learning and language opportunities that would come from the students having to teach ME how to create in 3-D!

    This has been a challenging school year for everyone and we are just beginning to explore our 3-D pens, but I know that they will be an inspiration to many learners for years to come.”

  • What a Difference a Monitor Makes!

    Remote lessons have become my pride and joy, thanks to the new monitor you donated to our classroom! This time last year I never imagined the ease with which I now interact with my students online. When we first began this journey I was fumbling between windows, not able to see my students' reactions to the content. Now I can clearly see my students as I present each lesson, and differentiate accordingly.

    Just the other day one of my first grade English Language Learners said: "Wow Ms. Austrie, you're high tech!" Ha ha! These are the moments that motivate me to continue growing as a teacher, and I thank you for being a part of that.”

  • A Real Classroom at Home!

    My students and I are so excited to have received this easel!

    During this difficult time of Covid-19, the greatest challenges for both the students and myself occur with sudden shifts between in-person and fully remote instruction. Your gift of an actual classroom easel for at-home remote instruction has made the transition that much easier! As a matter of fact, today was my first day in weeks delivering remote instruction from inside the classroom, and the kids barely noticed! It was only after I mentioned that I needed to put on my mask because a custodian was here to check the vents, that one of the kids exclaimed "Wait, Ms. Austrie you're in school?!"

    I believe one of my second graders said it best when asked what he would say to people from all across the country who are supporting our classrooms: "Thank you for caring about us".”

I will use this easel as I would have in the classroom, during shared lessons in reading, writing and math. The easel will be a familiar learning tool for students as we work together to produce sentences, paragraphs or number problems. The reality of working with an easel is one that will allow me to organize teaching materials and add color, images, or pre-made charts to efficiently differentiate virtual lessons for students.
