  • Virtual & In-Person Learning Supports in Our Post-Covid Environment

    Funded Aug 8, 2023

Thank you for allowing my k-2 students to access our space themed guided drawing art projects easily through the use of our new Apple Pencil. Additionally, the new earbuds have allowed me as a teacher advisor to conference with homeschool families in my shared office space.

My students delighted in the Lego and fidgets while we visited about their progress at semester 1 grade conferences. One of their favorites is a pop it style toy with several different face choices that can express a variety of emotions. Thank you for providing productive resources to Alaska's learners.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tollerud

  • Integrating Art in 2nd Grade

    Funded Nov 22, 2013

Thank you so very much for your consideration of our 2nd grade classroom! Your funds help supply wonderful art and stamping supplies to my low-income students. Because of your generosity, we are able to incorporate weekly art projects into our lessons and these often compliment our language arts curriculum. The students are thrilled each time I pull out the special supplies, and they are so responsible with it, handling their new paint brushes, and pastels with care. The first project we did was a watercolor scene of ocean creatures, because our weekly story in the reading curriculum was all about ocean animals. They loved creating vivid sea creatures with crayons and pastels and then painting ocean blues over them. Thank you for helping our reading selections come to life!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tollerud

My school is Title 1 and many of my students come from low-income families, some of which do not have basic things like running water in their homes. School is a safe-haven and place where they learn about the world around them. I have a very diverse class that includes students with disabilities, students who have different first languages, religions, and ethnicity's. Our school is rural, and the students have very little exposure to the arts, with the nearest town with art museums, etc., over 50 miles away.
