  • Harvey Took Our iPads; Please Help!

    Funded Sep 19, 2017

I just wanted to express my immense gratitude for your help in getting my students some technology access. My students were used to using desktops, iPads and laptops before Hurricane Harvey so no technology was difficult for them. My students have access to educational applications and websites that read books to them. I have two students that are in speech therapy and the applications that makes the kids say and repeat words and statements are so beneficial. Thank you so much for your help!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alejandro-Uvalle

  • IPad Minis for My "Mini" Students!

    Funded Oct 6, 2015

I just wanted to write these few words of appreciation for the continued support that Chevron has given to my classroom all these years. Thanks to the Fuel Your School program my students have access to the newest technology out there and they know how to use it. Many of my students do not have access to a home computer, laptop, or tablet. My students now have MP3 players, new software, and IPAD minis to use everyday.

My students really enjoy the expanded technology workstation. I can have 8 students at a time working on phonics, Reading skills, Math skills and many other skills. These new tablets have allowed my children to explore the world of technology with a very easy tool. The IPAD mini is so easy to use that most of my four and five year olds do not even ask for help anymore. My kids also enjoy listening to music on the IPOD shuffle. They love the fact that the music I play in the classroom is available on their music player.

The organizational tools that were donated have helped streamline the way the workstations flow. The big magnetic folder bins allows the students to have access to the materials they need when they need it. The students each have an eraser and a pouch for their own work. Each student can identify their work by the color of the pouch. The donations have helped the classroom immensely.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alejandro-Uvalle

  • Laptops for Little Ones!

    Funded Oct 17, 2014

I just wanted to say the biggest thank you that my students and I could ever give! Your program allows my classroom resources and my students knowledge to grow every year. If it wasn't for your funding my students' technology workstation would be two desktops. Now my technology workstation boosts of tablets, chrome books, mice, and headphones. My technology workstation is the first one to fill up daily.

I am able to rotate 8 more students as opposed to 2 in that workstation. More students are able to access technology on a daily basis. Many of my students asked and received tablets for Christmas. My parents commented on how proud they are that their four year old child can operate a tablet and computer. Exposing students at such a young age is going to give my kids a head start in life.

Thank you for having programs like "Fuel Your School."”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alejandro-Uvalle

  • Technology for Tots!

    Funded Oct 15, 2013

I just wanted to give you the biggest possible thanks! My students love our MP3 players and tablets. The children especially love the tablets.

Thanks to this project my kids are being exposed to the newest technology out there. Everyone is my room now knows how to work them. I am even pleased to say that three of my students even recieved tablets for Christmas. I am overjoyed at the leaps and bounds that my kids have shown using this technology.

The computer workstation is full daily. The students are using educational applications sitting at the carpet, laying on the floor or at their tables. They go where they choose and get comfortable and learn. Thank you again for your generosity!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alejandro-Uvalle

I have 50 wonderful boys and girls in my class. I have the best dual language learners in my class. They are a group of energetic and very inquisitive Texans. We were recently hit hard by Harvey and relocated for half of the school year to another school in order to rebuild our schol. We are home this school year but still in the process of recovery. We are at an elementary school that serves over 600+ PK through 5th grade students. We have a 91% free and reduced lunch rate and are a Title I school. When I surveyed my parents many of them do not have desktops at home and the ones who do have one do not allow my students to use them.
