iMac for Civil Engineering and Architecture
Funded Oct 29, 2013Thank you so much for your generous donation. The old computer we had in the classroom was not able to run the applications needed for the architecture course. The iMac is powerful enough to run both the Mac OS in addition to running windows. This allows me to be able to demonstrate how to use Revit - the architectural modeling software - to students. Furthermore, in Precalculus, I am able to use an app that accesses my computer to teach the content. The computer is connected to my projector and students are now able to see the notes I give from anywhere in the room from my iPad. The technology has also allowed me to make videos for students that miss class - allowing them to not get behind on the content. Your gift has changed the way my students interact with the content. Thanks again!”

Mr. McGregor

Funded May 8, 2013We have an ever growing Robotics and Engineering program at our school. We are constantly in need of more tools so that all students can be involved in the building process.
The tools have been a tremendous help to our students because the more tools we have the more we can get all students involved. Students in our 10th grade Engineering classes will be designing and building a trebuchet out of wood. All of the tools will be put to good use as they study projectile motion and connect it to quadratics in their Algebra 2 class. The tools you have helped purchased are allowing our students to build stronger, higher quality projects.
We are so thankful for your generous donation in helping us make our Engineering program that much stronger. Thank you again for your tremendous support!”

Funded May 15, 2013We have an ever growing Robotics program at our school. We are constantly in need of more tools so that all students can be involved in the building process. The students are so happy to have another miter saw available to them.
The miter saw has been a huge help not only because it is new and safe but also because it is able to do a 12" cut. This saves students from having to use the table saw which is more dangerous. The students will be using the saw not only for robotic prototypes but also to build their trebuchets in their Engineering Classes. Another saw will provide more greater access for all students therefore resulting in better quality projects.
Overall, this tool will be something that we will have for at least a decade. We are so thankful for your generous donation in helping us make our Engineering program that much stronger!”

Funded Feb 26, 2013Thank you so much for the power drill, reciprocating saw, jigsaw, and bit-set that you purchased for my students. These tools will enable more students to be involved in the "build" process. Our next project has students construct trebuchets to launch objects through the air. Students will be collecting position and velocity data on the objects and will generate an equation to fit the curve. We will also be able to use these tools for other projects throughout the year both in mathematics and also in Robotics. These tools will be shared and used by all engineering, science, and math teachers on campus. Thanks again!”

Graphing Calculators for All
Funded Nov 7, 2012I am writing to thank you for your generous donation towards the graphing calculators. This technology has enabled my Precalculus class to have new mathematical conversations that were not present before.
We have used the graphing calculators to:
-Graph linear, quadratic, cubic, exponential, and logarithmic functions
-Compute arithmetic and geometric sequences and sums
-Translate between exponential and logarithmic form
-Solve equations involving fractional exponents
-Calculate solutions both algebraically and graphically
-Compute complex arithmetic calculations
Furthermore, these graphing calculators have provided my students with the same technology that more affluent schools regard as a student requirement. You have allowed each and every one of my students to have the same opportunities as the student across the freeway at Redondo High School. Your donation has equipped future college graduates with the tools to be successful in our ever changing world. Thank you for your generous donation and the impact you have made in my students' lives. These are our future leaders!”

Funded Jan 7, 2013Thank you so much for your generous donation to my Precalculus students. Because of your donation I now have enough graphing calculators for each student to use during class. No longer do students need to share their graphing calculators with their peers but can do the discovery and work on their own. Because my students come from low-income homes many of them can not afford to purchase their own calculators. Because of your donations you have given my students the technological edge to be competitive in a fast changing world.”

The Beauty of Color!
Funded Mar 14, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donations. The donations could not have come at a better time. The day I ran out of colored paper was the day I received the project materials at my classroom door. The pictures show the students using the colored paper to build their "flip-books", which act as graphic organizers. It allows my students to keep an entire chapter of content together in one place. Rarely, do I ever have a students lose one of these. Graduating seniors often have a collection of their flip-books from their various math courses that they have constructed over the years. Furthermore, the bright colored paper allows students to easily spot their flip-book among their notes.
Thank you again for your generous donation and for the investment you have made in my students lives! ”
