Research has shown that students are able to learn better when they're well nourished, and eating healthy meals has been linked to higher grades, better memory and alertness, and faster information processing. The benefits of healthy eating at our school will not only encourage academic and emotional achievement but more importantly teach our students lifelong healthy eating habits. Our students live in the South Bronx where healthy stores and snacks are not as easily accessible to them. However, providing healthy snacks to our students during the school day can help meet these needs so that the students can focus on more important things like learning and preparing themselves to get into top rated high schools that our students have the opportunity to attend.
