This project, lesson will help students see the cause and effect in context, on a graph, in a table, and modeled with a mathematical expression. Students will also be able to predict the patterns of change in those cause and effect relationships. The Bungee project will help develop an anchor problem we can refer back to throughout the unit, solidifying the concept and relation among tables, graphs, and equations for given phenomena. Upon completion of this investigation, students will have a concrete example of a cause and effect relationship which we can refer back to. Furthermore understanding the difference between dependent and independent variables. The goal is as the semester end, students will be able to reason more abstractly about phenomenon through the use of tables, graphs, and equations. Materials and their usages. Meter Sticks: (Meter sticks) will be mounted vertically with a hook attached the top the meter stick. Rubber Bands: Rubber bands will be anchored to the hooks at the top of the anchor. Weights: Weights will be attached to the hanging end of the rubber bands and they record the length of the rubber band as incremental weights are added to the end of the rubber band.
